The tradition of giving someone a Valentine card on the 14th February goes back hundreds of years and is said to have originated from Saint Valentine, who signed a card to his loved one ‘from your Valentine’
This particular Valentine card folds out in an unusual way making it an ideal card design to make.
Begin by folding a sheet of A4 white card for card making in half. I have used hammered card but any card will work so use whatever you have in your craft supplies. Trim the card so it is 14.5cm wide.
Stick the silver mirror card to the bottom of the card using double sided tape. Using a piece of patterned scrapbook paper of your choice cut it 0.5cm smaller than the silver card and stick it on top of the silver card.
To make the strip at the front of your Valentine card cut a piece of silver mirror card 14.5cm x 2.5cm. Place a slightly smaller piece of red card on top and then do the same again with the same patterned paper you used for the bottom of the card. Place a length of white zig zag ribbon across the centre of the panel, and stick it down using a strong glue or double sided tape.
For your Valentine cards message print the words I love you onto some red card 1.5cm wide. If you have a rubber stamp with a valentines message you could also use that.
Leave a 2cm gap from the edge of the card then stick the panel down using 3d foam. As the panel you have just made is raised you can now fold the top of the card up and use the edge of the raised panel to hold the card in place.
Select a small piece of organza ribbon 1cm thick and also make a small bow from the same ribbon.
Print the Happy Valentine’s day message onto a piece of white card and cut it to 3cm x 6cm. You could also use stickers or stamps for the a romatic message.
Finally place the panel onto the front of the card using double sided tape. Make sure you only stick the bottom part of the panel to the card. You should now have a really cool Valentine card to give to that special someone.
