Valentine Greeting Card

valentines greeting cardValentine greeting cards are normally red in colour to reflect a love theme. It many ways having a set colour for your Valentine greeting card makes it easier as you don’t have to spend half the day wondering what colours to use for your card design.

card for card makingBegin making this Valentine greeting card by folding two A4 sized sheets of black card for card making in half.

black card for card makingTrim the card so that it is 6 inches high. You can cut the card using a paper trimmer or scalpel and metal edge ruler.

card making cardUse double sided tape to attach the two pieces of card together in the middle.

folded black cardFold the right side of the card in half outwards, press down firmly so the fold stays in place.

card designRepeat this by folding the left hand side of your Valentines card the same way.

red scrapbook paperSelect a piece of red patterned scrapbook paper or valentines themed paper  from you card making stock.

scrapbook paperOpen up the folded card. Cut a square of the patterned scrapbook paper slightly smaller than the inside of the card and secure it in place using double sided tape.

folded card designNext, cut two more pieces of the red patterned paper slightly smaller that the two outside edges of the card and use double sided tape to hold it in place.

spotty scrapbook paperThen find another piece of patterned scrapbook paper and cut it smaller again and attach it to the front flaps of the card. Here I have used a spotty paper.

card embelishmentOpen the card and place a love themed embellishment at the top of the inside of the card.

If you have time you could always make your own embellishments.

striped scrapbook paperDecorate the bottom of the inside of the card with some matching papers.

peel off stickersThen place peel off stickers around the inside border of the card.

  1. thank you so much. do you have any suggestions to make this a christian based card? i am considering doves or perhaps a cross and a dove within a heart cut out ( cross, with cutout heart with dove placed in center? i do not think this would be too difficult for tweens? thank you and GOD BLESS

  2. Thanks Nellie. I have never taken a class for card making but my sister in law is a great inspiration and a very good card maker. Like most things you get better at it the more time you put in to it ;)
