This greeting card is to congratulate someone for getting married. When making your handmade cards it is always a good idea to try out different card designs.
Below is a step by step guide which shows how to make this congratulations card.
To make this handmade wedding card find an A4 sheet of white card in your craft supplies and draw a line down the centre using a pencil. Try not to press too hard as you will need to rub the lines out later on.
Once you have found the centre of the card, draw two lines 5cm either side of the centre.
Fold the card along the two lines (not the centre one) and then fold both sides back on each other as shown above.
Your wedding card should now look like this. Use a pencil and ruler to draw a diamond shape on the front of the card.
Use a scalpel and metal edge ruler to cut the shape out. You should always change your scalpel blades regularly, this ensures a crisp clean cut with no jagged edges.
Cover the face of the card behind the diamond with patterned scrapbook paper cutting it slightly smaller so that a white border can be seen. Use double sided tape to secure the patterned scrapbook paper in place.
Cover the centre of the diamond with similar paper again, leaving a small border around the edge of the card. The choice of scrapbook paper is entirely down to your own preference. You can either blend the colours as I have done hear or try contrasting scrapbook paper.
Next, place a border peel off sticker around the edge of the paper (not the edge on the card itself).
And also around the scrapbook paper that is on the diamond shape.
Find some toppers or embellishments in your card making supplies that are wedding related. Here I have selected some wording that has a wedding theme.
You can easily make these yourself by printing the card wording from a computer.
Use 3D foam to attach the toppers at the top and bottom of each side of the card.
Using thin organza ribbon, create two small bows for the centre of the diamond. I have sewn these to the card however sticky dots will also do the job.
On the inside of the card place a small strip of paper of your choice at the top and bottom using double sided tape to secure it in place.
Place a congratulations peel off sticker in the centre of the card or if you do not have this in your craft supplies use a congratulations stamp or rub ons instead.
This wedding card design is quite modern and can easily be adapted for another card idea by swapping over the embellishments and colours.
