Happy Birthday Greeting Card

Happy Birthday Greeting CardThis happy birthday greeting card has been designed for a young girl. However, by changing the papers and image you can easily adapt this card idea to suit any occasion.

To begin making this handmade greeting card start by selecting a sheet of white A4 card from your card supplies.

white A4 card Draw a line in the centre of the card and fold the edges in to meet in the middle as shown above. You will need to rub the pencil mark out later.

strip of scrapbook paper Then select a sheet of scrapbook paper of your choice and cut one strip of paper for each side of the card. Use decorative scissors to give the edges of the paper a pretty edge.

Making a greeting cardEach strip needs to be the same length as the white card stock but slightly narrower so that a white border can be seen. Use double sided tape to secure the paper on each side of the card.

Rubber stamped imageRubber stamp an image onto some white card and colour it in with whatever product you prefer to use. Here I have used pro marker pens but gel pens, pencils, paint would be fine.

stamped imageNext, cut the image out using sharp scissors.

greeting card designAttach the image to the right hand side of the card using double sided tape or 3D foam.

making a greeting cardTo attach the ribbon open the card out flat so that the outside of the card is facing you. Use a scalpel and metal edge ruler to make slits inside the paper that run up the left hand side of the greeting card. Make sure the slits are the same width as the ribbon and leave a gap between each slit.

ribbon on a greeting cardThread the ribbon in and out of the slits.

greeting card with organza ribbonTie a bow with a separate piece of ribbon and attach it to the top of the left hand side using a sticky dot. A good tip and for extra security I will often sew the bow to cards to ensure they do not fall off.

birthday wording for a greeting cardStamp your greeting card wording onto some white card and then cut the wording out using decorative scissors.
