This happy birthday greeting card has been designed for a young girl. However, by changing the papers and image you can easily adapt this card idea to suit any occasion.
To begin making this handmade greeting card start by selecting a sheet of white A4 card from your card supplies.
Draw a line in the centre of the card and fold the edges in to meet in the middle as shown above. You will need to rub the pencil mark out later.
Then select a sheet of scrapbook paper of your choice and cut one strip of paper for each side of the card. Use decorative scissors to give the edges of the paper a pretty edge.
Each strip needs to be the same length as the white card stock but slightly narrower so that a white border can be seen. Use double sided tape to secure the paper on each side of the card.
Rubber stamp an image onto some white card and colour it in with whatever product you prefer to use. Here I have used pro marker pens but gel pens, pencils, paint would be fine.
Next, cut the image out using sharp scissors.
Attach the image to the right hand side of the card using double sided tape or 3D foam.
To attach the ribbon open the card out flat so that the outside of the card is facing you. Use a scalpel and metal edge ruler to make slits inside the paper that run up the left hand side of the greeting card. Make sure the slits are the same width as the ribbon and leave a gap between each slit.
Thread the ribbon in and out of the slits.
Tie a bow with a separate piece of ribbon and attach it to the top of the left hand side using a sticky dot. A good tip and for extra security I will often sew the bow to cards to ensure they do not fall off.
Stamp your greeting card wording onto some white card and then cut the wording out using decorative scissors.
Matt and layer the wording onto papers that match the paper you have used on the front of the card.
Place your greeting card wording on the inside of the card.
Then stamp some happy birthday wording onto a piece of white card and trim to size.
Again, mat and layer the wording onto matching card.
Finally, place the card wording in the top right hand corner of the card using double sided tape or 3d foam. You may need to cover the inside of the card to hide where the ribbon can be seen. You can easily do this by adding another strip of white card or paper..
