This handmade card idea is for a baby girl. The card I have selected is pink and has a slight texture to it but plain card would work just as well.
Begin making this card by folding both ends of the card so they meet in the middle. You can do this by drawing a line in the centre of the card and bring each side in to meet it.
Next cut two strips of polka dot scrapbook paper slightly smaller than the two front flaps on the front of the card.
Use double sided tape on the back of the strips of spotty pink paper. You could use glue however this can be messy and squirt out the sides when you press the pieces of the paper down.
Carefully placed the paper onto the front sections of the card making the gaps around the edges as even as possible. If you want the gaps to be exact then you could use a ruler but I find that really fiddly and at the end of the day this is a handmade card so it is not meant to be absolutely perfect.
From another sheet of paper I cut a small strip of flowers which were pink and brown so they matched the paper very well.
Use double sided tape to attach these strips to the top and bottom of each side of the card.
For the large embellishment on the front of the card I began by cutting a large square from the same pink card that was used earlier. I used decorative scissors to make it look a bit fancier.
I then placed the pink square on a slightly larger square piece of brown card stock to give it a border.
I found the words ‘baby girl’ on a piece of scrapbook paper and cut them out. You could easily use a computer to print your card message or use peel off stickers.
Next mount the card message onto brown card using double sided tape.
Then place 3D foam on the back of the card message so when you attach them to the front of the square they will be slightly raised and stand out. At this point you may want to add some glitter or even emboss the words using an embossing pen and embossing powder.
As you can see I have placed the words at an angle just so it looks a little less formal.
Next you can jazz up your card message with a few embellishments. I used some pink buttons and a big heart shaped brad however you can use any baby related bits and bobs that you find in your card making supplies.
Finally place the square topper on one side of the card so that it overlaps onto the other side.
If you wanted to make this card for a baby boy simply change the wording and colours from pink to blue. This card making idea is simple and fun to make and can be made by crafters who are new to card making.
Very beautiful, I love it. Thank you.
this would be so easy to turn into a boy’s card using baby blue instead of the pink. Cute card! TFS
