This handmade shaker card is perfect for a little girl. You can easily personalise this card making idea by adding names and ages to the front of the card and even a personal message.
The wonderful thing about card making is you can style and add what you like to your handmade cards making them truly unique and with a shaker card you know that it will also be a fun card to give to someone.
To make this shaker card select an A4 sheet of card stock from your card making supplies and fold it in half.
Rubber stamp an image onto a separate piece of white card stock using black ink. A fast drying ink such as StazOn ink is recommended.
Colour the image using Pro marker pens, gel pens, chalks, pencils or whatever you have in your craft supplies. Leave enough white card around your stamped image to allow for a 3d foam border.
To ensure your stamped image will be positioned correctly, rubber stamp another image and cut it slightly smaller than the coloured image you just made using a scalpel and metal edge ruler. Use the black and white image as a template to draw around the inside of the card where your window will be.
Next, use a scalpel and metal edge ruler to cut away a panel on the inside of the card.
Next, cover the front of the card with your chosen paper. I have used colours that match the dress on the little girl.
You will then need to place extra strong double sided tape around the edge of your picture that you coloured in earlier.
Then add 3d foam along each edge making sure there are no gaps.
Now it is time to add your chosen jewels, beads, glitter or whatever ‘shaker’ items you are using into the centre of the image. Here I have used pink beads and flowers.
Next, peel the front off the 3d foam and place some clear acetate over the front of the image to keep all the shaker items secure. If your 3d foam is not sticky then use strong double sided tape to attach the acetate to the frame.
Then you will need to place double sided tape around the inside edge of the card where the panel has been cut out.
Place the picture behind the panel and secure it in place with the double sided tape. You should now be able to shake your card without any of the items falling out.
You will now need to add some embellishments to this card idea. Tie a length of organza ribbon down one side of the card and tie a big bow at top.
For your birthday messages mat and layer a ‘Happy Birthday’ topper using scraps of paper that match the front of the card.
Finally place the birthday message topper in the bottom corner of the card using double sided tape.
You should now have a wonderful handmade shaker card that any young girl will simply adore and have fun with.
