Card making ideas for men can be difficult to find. This men’s handmade card is most likely more suited to the mature male in view of the colours, style and the hat itself.
You can easily change the stamped image from a hat stamp for a rubber stamp that you have in your card making supplies or to something that is more personalised for the cards recipient.
Begin making this homemade card by finding a sheet of white card stock which you then need to fold in half and cut so that it creates a square card. For convenience you can of course buy card stock that is pre-cut, however it is far more cost effective to make your own.
You will then need to find a piece of brown card stock. Here I have used a brown Bazzill Bling card stock because it has a slight texture to it as well as a slightly shiny surface.
You can use any brown card you may have in your card making supplies. It is always worth having a look in your scrap box to firstly use up any odd bits of scrap paper before cutting up a new sheet of scrapbook paper.
Cut the brown card slightly smaller than the front of the card base so that when it is attached it leaves a slight border. Use double sided tape to secure the brown card in place.
Select the rubber stamp you are going to use and stamp it onto white cardstock.
Use black embossing powders to heat emboss the image.
You will then need to stamp your image several times onto different papers. The amount of times will depend on what the image is and what parts you are going to use.
Here I have stamped the image onto green bazzill card and also some check scrapbook paper.
Cut the entire image out of the check coloured card and place it on top of the image on the white card.
Using the green Bazzill card you will need to cut out just the hat band section and attach it to the checked stamped image. If you are not using a hat rubber stamp just use a section of the image you think will be appropriate.
Cut a piece of matching green Bazzill card stock slightly bigger than your hat embellishment and trim the edges using decorative scissors.
Place the hat embellishment on top of the piece of green card you have just cut and use 3d foam to make it stand out.
Use small peel off stickers to put the word happy birthday onto the corner of the embellishment. If you do not have small stickers you could hand write this or use rub-ons.
Place the finished embellishment on the front of the card and attach it using double sided tape.
To make the borders on this homemade card cut two strips of paper from the check backing paper you have used for the hat.
Place one of the strips at the top of the card using double sided tape.
Then place a smaller strip of brown card along the centre of the check strip of paper.
Do the same for the bottom of the card but this time use green card stock to place along the centre of the stripy paper.
You can any sort of accessories you have in your card making supplies. Here I have used a large blue brad. You could also use buttons or metal embellishments.
Place the strip of paper with the brad at the bottom of the homemade card using double sided tape.
By changing the layout you can repeat this card making idea over and over again making it slightly different each time.
What a great idea, i am a very new beginer and as soon as i get the gear together i will try this card
