This homemade card is suitable for any beach lover or someone who likes to relax and enjoy holidays by the sea. It has a nice 3d effect and can be easily made my any card maker.
Find a sheet of white card stock in your card making supplies. Divide the card into three sections by making two folds. I find a bone tool and score board works wonders for this job. Folding the card in this way will make this handmade card a little different from standard greeting cards.
Cover the bottom section of the card with a sandy themed sheet of scrapbook paper. Use double sided tape to adhere the paper to the card. The bottom section of the card should now give the visual look of the beach.
The back panel on the card will represent the sea and the sky so you will need to cover the back panel with some backing paper that is blue. Preferably a blue that has a dappled effect, which would be more typical of a sky scene.
You will now need to put your decoupage sheet together. Select a beach themed decoupage and make it up using 3D foam.
As you can see here I have removed the top section of the decoupage. It is down to personal choice if you want to remove or change a decoupage. Do not be afraid to leave some layers out or change it slightly to fit in with the theme of your greeting card.
Place the decoupage in the centre of the front panel of the card. It needs to be positioned at the top. You can use double sided tape to secure it in place.
Place the words happy birthday underneath the decoupage. I have used a shop bought die cut for this however if you do not have anything like this in your card making supplies you can easily make your own by using a rubber stamp or printing the words from a computer.
Place some additional embellishments around the bottom section of the card. Here I have used a sun hat and some shells. You could even use real shells.
This card would also be suitable as a leaving card if someone is going to live near the coast.
