Personalised cards are great greeting cards to send to people as they show that a lot of time and effort has been put into making it. This unusual card design is quite complicated to make but should still be in the range of most card makers.
This pyramid box can be sent opened or flat. It can be either a box or a card or both. You can make these pretty little boxes to give little gifts to your family and friends such as birthday money or a few special chocolates. It is also perfect to give to a loved one as an anniversary card. In fact this card can be given to someone for pretty much any occasion.
Using a ruler and pencil (as you will need to rub the markings out) draw a 10.5cm square on a sheet of white cardstock. You then need to draw the triangles which have sides that are 11.5cm. Repeat the process with a 9cm square and 10cm triangles, and a 7.5cm square and 8.5cm triangles.
You should now have three separate star shaped templates for your greeting card.
Next cut out all the star shapes and use a scalpel and metal edge ruler to gently score the square, making sure you do not cut through the card.
Once you have scored the inner square you will be able to fold the triangles upwards, so that they all meet at the top.
In order to decorate the pyramids leaves (the triangle bits) you will need to create three triangle templates that are slightly smaller than the triangles on the templates you have just made. One with the dimensions 10.5cm x 10.5cm x 9.5cm, the second one with the dimensions 9cm x 9cm x 8cm, and one with the dimensions 8cm x 8cm x 7cm.
Cut all the templates out using a scalpel and ruler or a very good pair of scissors to ensure a straight edge.
Use your triangle templates to cut out triangles of patterned paper which can then be attached to the inside of the star shapes. I have used double sided tape however any dry adhesive will work.
Flip over the largest template and use some more patterned scrapbook paper to decorate it. You will only need to decorate the reverse side of the biggest template as this will form the outside of the pyramid card and will therefore be the only one seen.
You will then need to cut some white card stock into a 7cm square. This is going to be used in the centre of your pyramid card. I have used a floral decoupage to embellish the square; however you can use whatever card making materials you wish. You could even make a personalised card by adding a photo or some wording such as ‘Happy Birthday’.
Place the square on the inside centre of the smallest template. Use a strong double sided tape to secure it in place.
Next place the small triangle inside the medium template and use double sided tape to hold it in place.
And finally place the medium template inside the largest.
Use a hole punch or eyelet setter to make a small hole in each end of the triangles.
Use a thin matching ribbon to pass through the holes and bring the triangle together.
Tie a small bow at the top of the box to keep the box closed. You can add any additional embellishments to the outside of the box.
This box card idea is lovely for giving small gifts, such as chocolates, jewellery or money. You can add a photo of a special occasion or a picture off the recipient to make it a personalised card they will remember for a long time to come.
This card is simpler to make than it first looks and with a little patience and effort most card makers should not have any trouble making this personalised pyramid card.
Thanks so much…I have had a lot of fun with this!!! Once I read through I sat right down and made two!!! One Anniversary and I had 3D Butterflies around and inside going down one side,so when it came time to sign it,I used the bottom on the outside!! The other was for a frien and I put a pack of Flower seeds inside and used paper with Garden tools on it.
THANKS….

Thank you very much Magratte.
The Pyramid Card is a very good idea which can be made into various card titles and I am going to make one, and you can put a gift inside it too. Sometimes you need a simple idea to get the little brain cells working. I have always said talk to an expert and learn.
Many thanks
Mario

This is a great design! I want to make one for my friend’s birthday. One obstacle I ran into was, what size cardstock was used for these triangles? This card is going to blow her mind.
Thanks Charlene.
Good question and something I should have really said on the guide…ooops!
In view of the measurements of the triangles a 12×12″ sheet of paper will be fine
Thanks again and glad you like this card idea.
Hey Vikki i looked at it and i thought OH MY GOD how am i going to do this at only being 13 but im going to give it a try and i will let you know how i get on with it.
