This homemade card ideas theme would be absolutely perfect for a little boy. If you need to make the card for a girl then simply change the blue colours for pink.

Begin making this happy birthday card by folding an A4 piece of white card stock in half to create a C5 size card.

Place your 3d decoupage image on the front of the card and draw a box around the decoupage leaving around a half inch border on each side. .

Use a scalpel and ruler to cut away the remaining card leaving a square flap on the front.

Use a corner punch to round off the corner. If you do not have a corner punch then you could always draw around something to round off the edge and cut it manually using a sharp pair of scissors.

Cover the inside of the card with blue paper so that the square flap stands out.

Place your decoupage image on the front of the card using double sided tape to secure it in place.

To decorate the front panel place four blue brads along the right hand edge of the card. A good tip when making holes in your homemade cards is to make the holes with a pokey tool before putting the brads in to avoid the paper or card stock puckering or tearing.

When using a pokey tool place a rubber or piece if foam behind the area you are going to make the hole so that you do not accidentally mark your table or the other side of your homemade card.

Next, find some blue patterned ribbon and place four small loops on the outside edge of the front of the card. Secure the ribbon on the back using scotch tape.

You will need to cover the back of the flap to cover up the backs of the brads where you have secured the ribbon.

Print off the wording happy birthday on to white paper or card stock. Mount this onto blue scrapbook paper using double sided tape leaving a small border.

Then mount the words onto white card stock using 3d foam pads so the happy birthday wording is slightly raised.

Place the wording at the top of the card on the inside using double sided tape or sticky dots.
