Baby girl cards can of course be any colour you choose but personally I can’t help making baby girls cards in pink. It just seems right.
Also, ribbon and buttons are classic embellishments for making baby girls cards and are relatively cheap materials to use making this card inexpensive to make, yet pleasing to look at.
The card is a square card, so select a sheet of white card stock and fold it in half and then trim around the edges to create a square. When making the base of the card yourself remember to make sure it fits into the envelope you are going to use.
You can of course use pre packed square cards that come with envelopes that match.
To make the main topper or embellishment for your card select a sheet of scrapbook paper from your card making supplies that has pink and white diamonds on it, or any scrapbook paper that will be suitable for this baby girl card.
Cut out a section of the patterned paper that is roughly about half the size of the white card stock. Cut the height so there is around a quarter of an inch at the top and bottom.
Mount the diamond paper onto solid bright pink card stock, making sure you leave a border at each side.
Use an eyelet setter to randomly remove small semi circles down both sides of the pink card.
If you do not have an eyelet punch, any circle punch will work or in the worst case, you can make the cuts using scissors.
Next you will need to find a length of pink organza ribbon approximately one inch thick. Wrap this all around the panel passing it through all the small holes you have just made with the eyelet punch. You can secure the ends of the ribbon at the back of the panel using scotch tape as this will not be seen.
Select four pink buttons that are all different in sizes and shades of pink, and attach the buttons where the ribbon crosses over. You can secure these in place using strong sticky dots or ultra strong double sided tape. You could even try actually sewing the buttons to the piece of card.
Place the panel that contains the buttons and ribbon on the left hand side of the card.
Secure the panel in place using double sided tape. I would recommend a very strong tape as the buttons may be heavy enough to cause the panel to fall off if not secured well enough.
Leave a white border all the way around the panel.
You are now going to add the word ‘Baby’ down the right hand side of the card. Have a look in your card making supplies and check if you have any die cut letters. Alternatively you can create these yourself using rubber stamps, peel off stickers or rub-ons. You will need some pink baby themed paper as well.
Place the letters down the right hand side putting one letter under the other. You can either use 3d foam pads or double sided tape for this.
You should now have a really cute baby girl card.
you TOTTALY ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
