I made this rose card a happy birthday card although it would also be suitable for an anniversary or Valentines Day card, as the colours suggest it is sent with love. That said, you could easily change the colours to make it suit any occasion you require.
The card is A4 folded in half. I used a bone tool and score board to get a clean crisp fold down the centre of the card. I decided to use plain white card as I was going to cover the entire front of the card so it didn’t matter what colour the base of my card was.
I used two different scrapbook papers to cover the front of this happy birthday card. The one at the top is a solid red bazzill card stock and the patterned one at the bottom is a 12×12″ scrapbook paper that contains a similar colour in the pattern.
I placed a large sticky dot behind the buckle to hold it in place and used a clear double sided tape to hold the ribbon in place.
I tucked the ribbon around the edges of the card and secured it in place with scotch tape. You will need to place a piece of card or paper over the inside of the card to hide away all the fixings.
Using this rose rubber stamp in my craft supplies I used a red ink to stamp the image onto white card. I did not emboss the image as I wanted it to have a flatter appearance. I cut the image into a large square using a metal edged ruler and scalpel.
The next thing that needed to be done was to mat and layer the image onto some of the left over scrapbook paper. I used the paper that was left over from the front of the card. The first layer was the dark red paper and then the patterned scrapbook paper.
I added a peel-off sticker for my ‘happy birthday’ message to finish off this elegant and easy to make homemade happy birthday card.
