Christmas Card Ideas - Silver Christmas Tree
When trying to come up with new and exciting handmade Christmas card ideas it is sometimes worthwhile to think outside the box and forget about tradition altogether. These days’ people do not necessarily stick with the traditional red, gold, silver and green colours and quite often you will see Christmas tress that have purple or even black baubles hanging from them.
This makes making your handmade Christmas cards not only easier but you are less likely to get bored of using the same colours over and over again.
This card idea is really easy to do and can be re done in all different colours. I began by inking a large Christmas tree rubber stamp with Versamark ink.
I stamped the image firmly onto black card and then sprinkled over some silver embossing powder over it.
I embossed the image with a heat gun taking care not to overheat and burn the card. I repeated this process four times as it was my intention to decoupage each layer of the Christmas tree using 3D foam pads.
I used one of the stamped images as a base and kept a boarder around it. I then proceeded to layer the other Christmas tree images over the top using 3D foam.
Once all the layers had been secured and stuck down I then decided to mat and layer using black and silver card.
Once I was happy with the mat and layering I folded an A4 piece of black card in half to use as my card base. I then positioned the Christmas tree image onto the card and stuck it down using strong double sided tape.
I then had a rummage through my card making supplies and dug out a wooden stamp that had the wording ‘Happy Christmas’ on it.
As with the Christmas tree, I used a Versamark inkpad to stamp the image onto black card. Once embossed, I followed the same mat and layering theme and gave the wording a silver and black boarder.
The ‘Happy Christmas’ wording was then secured to the bottom of the card using double sided tape.
This handmade Christmas card is not exactly traditional because the base of the card is black. However, you can see how really simple and effective this card is not to mention a really cheap card to make. Like I said, you can always do exactly the same process using different colours if you do want to stick with more traditional Christmas card ideas.
