Step-By-Step - Poppy Birthday Card
This handmade card is A4 size so you will need to find an A3 sheet of card from your craft supplies (which will be folded in half for the base) and two sheets of the same 12 x 12 scrapbook paper

I have made the handmade card into a birthday card however you could change the wording and send it as any card you wish. Get well, anniversary or even a valentines day card.

I began by folding an A3 sheet of card in half to form an A4 card. I then cut my 12 x 12 scrap book paper (in this case the poppy paper) to fit the front of the card.

I then embossed all around the edges of the sheet of scrapbook paper using gold embossing powder from my craft supplies.

I then cut the second sheet of the same paper to also fit the card. Using a craft knife I cut away the background from the second sheet of poppy paper. When using a craft knife always ensure you are using a cutting mat.

When all the background has been cut away from the second sheet you should be left with the above.
Taking care, apply 3D foam pads to the back of the paper where the background has been cut away. Carefully attach this to the sheet that has been embossed to give it a 3D look.

You will then need to create a ‘name plate’ to add your wording. I used a sizzix cutting machine to cut this one, however you could simply draw your own and cut it out. Again I have used the same gold embossing powder to emboss the name plate.

The happy birthday wording has been cut from a sizzix side kick machine using gold card and placed on paper that matches the background of the poppy scrapbook paper.
This can then be mat and layered onto gold card.
